The latest version 0.6.0 of the software has undergone significant revisions following a review by Murch, who advocated for a more concise and direct narrative style alongside a comprehensive explanation of address reuse issues. The document's length was effectively reduced from approximately 4,700 words to 3,000 words. A key technical update in this version relates to how outputs that pay the same script are managed. Specifically, these outputs now share a single exposure window. This window opens when any associated spend is broadcasted and closes only after the last remaining spend is confirmed and fully processed.
For wallet management, the adjustments are minimal but notable. The primary change detailed in Appendix A concerns the SWEEP_WHEN_SPENDING guideline. Previously, it was suggested to spend the entire balance in one go; however, the new directive advises spending every output that pays into the same script in a single transaction. This approach aims to streamline transactions and potentially enhance security and efficiency. The other aspects of wallet management as outlined in the remaining three rows of Appendix A remain unchanged.
Regarding the publication of these changes, Murch expressed ambivalence about the necessity of documenting the classification updates. He remains open to persuasion based on feedback from reviewers. As such, those interested in influencing the decision or voicing opinions on the matter are encouraged to participate in the ongoing discussion found on the project's GitHub pull request page at GitHub PR #2294.
