The latest update to the Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIPs) has been submitted by @murch as informational and is currently available for review on GitHub. The proposal, found at this link, details changes made since version 0.4.0 to version 0.5.1. It includes critical updates on vulnerability classifications in BIP 360, specifically addressing long and short exposure vulnerabilities per output. One significant correction made in this version is the adjustment of P2MR status from NOT_EXPOSED to EXPOSED_ON_SPEND, which affects the security classification once the spend occurs.

Additionally, the proposal outlines a special case scenario concerning the pre-activation phase of witness v2 outputs, which are noted as spendable by anyone during this phase and are therefore classified outside of the usual vulnerability categories. The document also includes a reference implementation along with 25 vectors that remain unchanged and are available in the same repository as previous versions.

The decision to officially publish these updates will be influenced by community feedback collected via comments on the pull request. Community members and stakeholders are encouraged to review the changes and express their opinions, as these contributions are integral to the decision-making process regarding the adoption and implementation of the proposed updates.
