Block-wide Signature Aggregation via SNARKs

The integration of a SNARK prover into the Bitcoin peer-to-peer relay codebase entails significant risks, particularly due to the complexities and demands associated with SNARK proving tasks. Introducing such technology could inadvertently open up avenues for denial-of-service (DoS) attacks that specifically target this addition. A potential DoS vulnerability within the SNARK prover could extend its impact to miners by disrupting their operations. This disruption could lead to a situation where no new blocks are produced if a substantial number of miners are simultaneously compromised by these vulnerabilities. Although this scenario might be marginally better than a scenario where the entire network suffers from a DoS attack, the practical difference is minimal. In both cases, the result effectively forces holders to involuntarily retain their assets, which underscores the critical nature of assessing and mitigating potential vulnerabilities in proposed technological enhancements to Bitcoin's infrastructure.
