State of the transaction privacy work in Bitcoin

The discussion on the triviality of generating new addresses highlights a significant misunderstanding in arguments against silent payments. It is incorrect to perceive the ease of creating new addresses as a weakness that undermines the effectiveness of silent payments. Instead, this characteristic should be viewed as a reinforcing factor for the security and anonymity silent payments provide.

Furthermore, concerns about the visibility of payment relationships by an entity with complete access to transaction histories are misplaced. The same risks exist whether using silent payments or other methods like coinjoin wallets. The argument that such visibility poses a unique threat to silent payments fails to recognize that this is a common issue across various transaction methods where one entity can access comprehensive transaction data. This critique does not singularly disadvantage silent payments compared to other privacy-focused technologies.
