Bitcoin Inquisition 29.4

This update aligns closely with the recent advancements in Bitcoin Core 29.4, which can also be accessed on its GitHub page. Among the key enhancements in this release are several proposed consensus changes aimed at bolstering the functionality and security of the Bitcoin network transactions.

One major upgrade includes the introduction of BIP 118 (SIGHASH_ANYPREVOUT), which facilitates enhanced transaction flexibility, detailed further in PR84. Another notable inclusion is BIP 119 or OP_CHECKTEMPLATEVERIFY, which seeks to refine template verification processes, as seen in PR85. Additional operations such as OP_CAT (BIP 347), OP_CHECKSIGFROMSTACK (BIP 348), and OP_INTERNALKEY (BIP 349) have also been integrated into this release. These updates were progressively activated on the default signet at different blocks, with BIP 118 and BIP 119 becoming active since September 2022 and April 2024 respectively. The more recent features like BIP 348 and BIP 349 were activated in October 2025 and February 2026. Furthermore, a new TEMPLATEHASH (BIP 446) was integrated and became operational by July 2026 as outlined in PR100.

For users seeking to utilize these new features, it is essential to connect with other inquisition nodes by adding addnode=inquisition.bitcoin-signet.net in their node configurations. By default, Inquisition nodes will advertise themselves, which can be verified using bitcoin-cli -netinfo 3. Lastly, the templatehash feature is currently active, enhancing the network's capabilities further by involving the heretical type under BIN-2026-0001-000, marking another significant milestone in the evolution of the Bitcoin Inquisition's functionality.
