Bitcoin Inquisition 29.4

The latest release of Bitcoin Inquisition, version 29.4, is now available and can be downloaded from their official GitHub repository. This version is based on the recent Bitcoin Core 29.4 update, which can also be accessed via its GitHub page.

Version 29.4 introduces support for several proposed consensus changes that enhance the functionality and security of transactions within the Bitcoin network. These include BIP 118, known as SIGHASH_ANYPREVOUT, designed to improve transaction flexibility (see PR84). Another significant inclusion is BIP 119 or OP_CHECKTEMPLATEVERIFY, which aims at improving template verification processes (PR85). Additionally, there are new operations such as OP_CAT (BIP 347) and OP_CHECKSIGFROMSTACK (BIP 348), along with OP_INTERNALKEY (BIP 349) which are detailed in their respective proposals and pull requests: BIN-24-1 aka BIP 347 (PR83), BIN-24-3 aka BIP 348 (PR87), and BIN-24-4 aka BIP 349 (PR86).

These updates have been progressively activated on the default signet at different blocks, with BIP 118 and BIP 119 active since September 2022 and April 2024 respectively. The more recent updates like BIP 348 and BIP 349 were activated in October 2025 and February 2026. Furthermore, TEMPLATEHASH (BIP 446) has also been integrated and was triggered by July 2026 (PR100).

For users interested in ensuring their transactions utilize these new features, it's essential to connect with other inquisition nodes. This can be achieved by specifying addnode=inquisition.bitcoin-signet.net in their node configurations. By default, Inquisition nodes will advertise themselves, which can be verified using bitcoin-cli -netinfo 3.
