In an email exchange between Max Dignan and Lisa Neigut on January 29, 2020, Max had asked whether PSBT (BIP 174) would be a good protocol for wallet interoperability. Lisa responded that while it is a great protocol for wallet interop, it may be a bit overweight for transaction collaboration between two peers. The email exchange was part of the Lightning-dev mailing list.
