On-chain payment options, when activated, are consistently displayed during the checkout process. For lightning payments, the system is designed to sequentially attempt each available payment method should the initial wallet encounter issues such as being offline or lacking liquidity. The prioritized sequence includes CLINK, NWC, LNURL, and Strike, and this ordering can be configured according to user preference.

Cashu mints, if enabled, serve as a fallback option and are processed after all other lightning payment methods have been attempted. Their primary advantage lies in their presumed ability to always maintain available inbound liquidity, making them reliable as a backup mechanism. Funds held with Cashu mints are periodically transferred into the lightning wallet using protocols like CLINK or NWC, typically within seconds to minutes, ensuring prompt consolidation of balances.

In instances where an on-chain payment is more economically viable—such as when the balance reaches $25 or greater—a submarine swap facilitates the transfer from Cashu to the designated wallet. This approach is particularly useful if the lightning wallet does not exist or remains offline for a prolonged duration, ensuring that funds remain accessible and efficiently managed.
