K-of-N threshhold key generation scheme by limited shared secrets

The scheme under consideration simplifies its key architecture by reducing the threshold key to multiple MuSig2 instances. This structural choice enables the author to utilize the established MuSig2-in-MuSig2 proof, which is particularly relevant for Taproot channels. Additionally, this approach facilitates deriving shachain roots from the shared secrets generated within these MuSig2 constructions.

When evaluating a potential alternative such as Arctic, attention should be directed toward whether it can offer equivalent compositional and derivational capabilities. The meaningful aspects of comparison do not lie solely in the ability to perform threshold signing. Instead, the analysis must encompass the setup procedures, storage requirements, and the scope of security proofs—specifically, whether those proofs effectively guarantee security for the precise use case at hand.
