The concept of "Input expiry" in blockchain transactions can be effectively explained through the mechanics of nLockTime and nSequence. The parameter nLockTime is crucial as it determines the minimum block height at which a transaction may be included in the blockchain. This setting essentially specifies when a transaction becomes eligible for inclusion in the mined blocks, thus playing a pivotal role in timing the execution of transactions.

On the other hand, nSequence offers a slightly different utility by dictating how many blocks before a transaction's possible inclusion it expires. This feature enables a transaction input to have an expiration condition independent from the overall transaction expiry, providing enhanced flexibility and control over transaction validity.

These two parameters together frame a comprehensive understanding of input expiry. While they contribute to similar ends—managing the lifecycle of a transaction—their functions are distinct yet complementary. This orthogonal relationship between nLockTime and nSequence facilitates diverse applications and scenarios in blockchain operations, making their implementation a critical aspect for developers and engineers working with time-sensitive or conditional transactions.
