[Rust] descriptor-encrypt: Encrypt any descriptor such that only authorized spenders can decrypt

The concept of using encrypted descriptors alongside seed phrases presents a novel approach to enhancing security and privacy for cryptocurrency wallet users. The primary advantage of this method is its potential to conceal the activity and balance of a wallet, making it less vulnerable to theft or unauthorized access by unintended parties, such as thieves or heirs who might not have the authority to spend the funds. The suggestion includes possibly storing these encrypted descriptors online, in a public and well-recognized location. This strategy aims to facilitate easy access for rightful heirs, allowing them to retrieve these descriptors using only the seed phrases, without requiring additional information for their retrieval.

An ideal scenario would involve the creation of a standard protocol that simplifies the process of fund recovery for users. Such a protocol would enable users to locally import master extended public keys and regain control over all funds associated with those keys. This model emphasizes user-friendliness, as it minimizes the need for technical knowledge beyond the understanding of seed phrases and the operation of hardware devices. To implement this effectively, a data availability layer and an open-source indexer are necessary. These components would serve to help users locate their encrypted descriptors easily.

Although there is a belief that Bitcoin could serve as the sole data availability layer accepted by the industry due to its widespread recognition and trust, openness to alternative solutions is expressed. Exploring different data availability layers could potentially offer more tailored or efficient options for managing encrypted descriptors and recovering funds.
