Bitcoin Inqusition 29.2

Feb 7 - Feb 7, 2026

  • The latest release of Bitcoin Inquisition, version 29.2, is now available for download at [GitHub](https://github.com/bitcoin-inquisition/bitcoin/releases/tag/v29.2-inq).

This version builds upon Bitcoin Core 29.3rc2 and introduces support for several proposed consensus changes aimed at enhancing the protocol's functionality and security. Noteworthy among these updates are the implementations of BIP 118 and BIP 119, which introduce SIGHASH_ANYPREVOUT and OP_CHECKTEMPLATEVERIFY, respectively, according to their corresponding pull requests (PR84) and (PR85). Furthermore, this release incorporates BIN-24-1 (also known as BIP 347) that reintroduces the OP_CAT operation, alongside BIN-24-3 and BIN-24-4 (equivalent to BIP 348 and BIP 349), which add OP_CHECKSIGFROMSTACK and OP_INTERNALKEY operations, detailed in their individual pull requests (PR83, PR87, and PR86).

Additionally, BIP 54, labeled Consensus Cleanup, has been merged through two separate pull requests (PR90 and PR99), aiming to streamline and improve the existing consensus rules. The activation of these features follows a schedule on the default signet with the first two being active since September 6, 2022, at block 106704, and others following suit at later dates specified, culminating with BIP 54's expected activation around five days after its triggering at block 290513.

Users interested in leveraging these new features must note that transactions utilizing them won't be relayed by nodes lacking support. To ensure proper transaction propagation, it's recommended to connect directly with other inquisition nodes by specifying addnode=inquisition.bitcoin-signet.net in the node configuration. Bitcoin Inquisition nodes distinguish themselves via a specific subversion string visible through the bitcoin-cli -netinfo 3 command. Further details on this can be found in the announcement for version 23.0 linked here.

This progression reflects the ongoing efforts within the Bitcoin development community to refine, secure, and extend the capabilities of the Bitcoin network through considered consensus changes and enhancements.
